Edith Sonne Bruun (Denmark, 1910-).
After her training at the Copenhagen Art-Craftsman School, Edith Sonne Bruun began her own workshop with Grete Gissemann and Christian Poulsen between the years 1934 and 1937. She joined Saxbo in 1938 and left a year later. In 1945, after a prolonged absense from ceramic production, she rejoined Saxbo and later began an independent collaboration with Saxbo in 1951.
Edith Sonne Bruun began exhibiting under Saxbo´s aegis in 1952 and became famous for her single-tone glaze. Her pottery designs are soft and sensual, and she achieves a depth of intensity in her glazes that is unparalleled. She was Bing and Grøndahl´s senior artist-in-residence from 1962 to 1989 and subsequently transferreed to Royal Copenhagen following the merger between Denmark´s two largest porcelain factories. Her work has been included in the Metropolitan Museum of New York, National Museum, Stockholm, and Louisiana Museum in Copenhagen.
